Tony Parry is Chief Executive Officer of IITPSA (Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa – formerly Computer Society South Africa) – a position he has held since June 2007. Up until 31 March 2018, he represented the Institute on the Accounting Authority (Board) of the MICT SETA, and is a current member of the Advisory Board of the Department of Computer Science, University of Pretoria. He is also one of the four Interim Chairpersons of the four Chambers of the National ICT Forum of the DTPS.
In his ‘spare time’, he contracts to Wits Business School as a Sessional Lecturer in Technology Management on PDM, PDBA and MBA programmes, as required. He is also an approved external examiner for Wits University Masters’ level research projects in ICT related subject areas.
Tony has been involved in the ICT profession for more than thirty years, spending around eighteen of those with the Barloworld Group. He has run the IT department for various Barloworld companies, including Taubmans Paints in Sydney, Australia, Barloworld Motor, the PPC Group and Barloworld’s Shared IT Services.
Amongst other degrees, Tony holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Henley in the UK and he is a member of a number of professional bodies, including IITPSA (Professional Member), the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (Fellow), the Institute of People Management of South Africa and the American Association of Computing Machinery.
