Louise van der Bank was appointed as Chief Information Officer of AfriSam in September 2010. As an executive team member, she is a strategic partner in decision-making, strategy formulation, innovation and the overall management of the organisation. In her role as CIO, she is accountable to ensure the organisation gets the most value from IT, and to create business differentiation and competitive advantage through the effective leveraging of information and technology enablers.

She focuses on providing clarity of vision and leadership in embracing digital opportunities and threats, leveraging IT to increase organisational effectiveness and efficiencies, improve services and streamline business models across all departments.

Prior to taking up this role, Louise served as CIO at the South African Post Office since February 2007 as Director, SAP Core Banking, Standard Bank South Africa since early in 2005 and as General Manager, Information Management since July 2001.

Louise holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Higher Education Diploma. She has completed various leadership programs including The Executive Program from the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia (USA).
